Touched down in Israel!

Ok so we are now in Israel. Once we got off the plane everything was very easy and straight forward, no qeues at the immigration, luggage came out straight away etc etc, we had a box of Arsenal items which turned out to be a challenge getting around but we managed it and at times was quite amusing including teamwork to put it on the escalator and then Denys picking it up at the bottom!

We then got the train which was approx 1hr45 to Akko which arrived at around 8:30pm, A small town in northern Israel near Haifa. There we met Delilah who works for the UJIA (United Jewish Israel Appeal). So we have both been singing the song hey there Delilah by the plain white t's, in fact Denys is playing the song right now! Anyway Delilah took as to where we will be staying for the trip and we also met Zippee who is in charge of our accomodation plus she is a great woman and knows everything about the area is always happy to help with anything we need. This was also quite amusing as some who are reading might know we have a guy on our course who adopted this nickname because of his staff card photo which ended up resembling the childrens TV character. Where we are staying is kind of like an apartment, we have a kitchen and bathroom plus our living areas, the accomodation is excellent. So our first night we had a quick walk around the area then back to make something to eat and stream the Arsenal vs Leeds FA cup game to see the Legend returning home, Thierry Henry!! We also predicted he would come on around 60mins and score for us, not only did he score for us but it was classical Henry, the touch the turn then the finish in the bottom corner.
Today we met Delilah and her colleague who brought us both a UJIA hoody then we set off for a tour of all the schools we will be coaching at. After that we went to the local mall and got some lunch, I opted for Mcdonalds today and saw the American influence on the country, a Huge burger! Denys thought it was a pizza inside the box not a burger. After that we took a walk back through the main town to the old part of Acre and walked all along the coastal front, some beautiful scenery especially around the sea wall. later on we did some grocery shopping then met Delilah again to show us around some more of the places we will be coaching in the late afternoon/evening.
